While the focus of most others are on one very specific area, my attention spans a wide range that includes brain development, plasticity, behaviour, cognition, the impact of diet & lifestyle on brain health, and the mechanisms, consequences and recovery of brain injury. I am motivated to understand how the pieces of the “brain puzzle” fit together.

I am registered with the Commission of Psychologists as a psychologist with registration number 631116071 and I am accredited as a clinical psychologist with FPS visa number 262083.

I hold the scientific degree of Licentiate in Theoretical and Experimental Psychology. I underwent a classical EEG training under the supervision of a neurologist, head of the Neurology Department of the Henri Serruys Hospital. This was followed by a 5-year supervision for qEEG and ERP by the head of department of neurology for neurological patients and head of department of psychiatry for psychiatric patients.

I was part of a group of clinicians who started clinical application of qEEG in Belgian General and University hospitals in the late 1980s-early 1990s.
As a clinical and research psychologist, I'm specialised in neurophysiology, especially qEEG and ERP, with over 30 years of clinical experience for admitted neurological and psychiatric patients at the Henri Serruys hospital in Ostend. Furthermore, I specialise in brain trauma (acquired brain injury, ABI), using data integration of, among other things, imaging and neuropsychological examinations based on scientific research in the context of expertise matters at home and abroad.

I was part of a multidisciplinary dementia screening team at Henri Serruys Hospital using MRI, SPECT, qEEG, ERP and neuropsychological examinations from 2005-2012.

I was successively a board member of the Quantified Neurophysiology Belgium Group (QNBG), an active member of the Flemish Society for Psychophysiology, a board member of the Psychophysiology Section of the Flemish Society for Psychiatry (VVP) and a current board member of the Neuroscience Section of the VVP.
I am part of Neurotope, a think tank in which different disciplines such as neurologists, psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, neurosurgeons, neuroscientists and neuromodulation experts unite to exchange knowledge, brainstorm and push for recognition of psychophysiological studies in the context of psychological and psychiatric disorders.

I did peer reviews for the journals Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Psychiatry.

I am currently conducting international neuroscientific research into the neurotoxic effects of air quality on airline personnel. Preliminary results were presented at the Aircraft Cabin Air Conference in 2019 and 2021   [].

Together with more than 30 national and international neuroscientists colleagues, a special consensus report was compiled for the safe use of EEG following the COVID-19 pandemic; Special Report on the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Clinical EEG and Research and Consensus Recommendations for the Safe Use of EEG [].
